Mentorship Database
NAAMA NextGen is the student section of the National Arab American Medical Association – an organization with a network of over 4,000 Arab American healthcare professionals. The mentorship database taps into this network and allows members to search for healthcare professionals who have opted into the database by region and speciality in order to find research, shadowing, career, and counseling opportunities.
Kaplan Discount
NAAMA NextGen has partnered with Kaplan Test Prep to give members a 10% discount on all Kaplan courses including MCAT, DAT, and USMLE tests. Instructions to access this discount are periodically emailed to members. Go to the Kaplan Discount page and fill out the form if you would like to receive an on demand email with instructions. Please email National@naamanextgen.org for troubleshooting.
Research Module
Developed by Layal Bou Harfouch and reviewed by Dr. Nidal Moukaddam, the research educational module is a google classroom course educating on basic health science research. Participants receive a certificate upon completion. This is a great resource to understand how basic science research is conducted from start to finish and an opportunity for experienced student researchers to review best practices.
Scholarships
NAAMA NextGen offers scholarships to members on the basis of merit, financial need, and character. Established 22 years ago the Ibn-Sina scholarship is awarded to two Arab American WSUSOM students. Additionally, NAAMA NextGen has awarded a Kaplan course scholarship and the NAAMA foundation awards scholarships semi-regularly. Check the scholarships page to view available scholarships.
