The NAAMA NextGen Annual National Summit is a hallmark event for the Arab-American community. It aims to connect the NAAMA NextGen community as well as educate and empower aspiring healthcare professionals in the context of their Arab American identity. Founded on May 12, 2018 by then NAAMA President Dr. Rouba Ali-Fehmi, the summit has grown to host many esteemed speakers such as medical school deans, CNN correspondents, medical school admissions staff, prominent researchers, hospital department chairs, and chief executives of major hospital systems.
The most recent summit hosted over 200 attendees at the University of Michigan’s Michigan League on October 8th, 2022 The summit featured an incredible schedule of panelists, 2 “speed dating events” for students to network with medical/dental students and residents, and a research presentation competition. Later that day, members attended the first NAAMA NextGen Gala dinner at the University of Michigan Museum of Art. The elegant night consisted of an awards presentation with a scholarship valued at $2,600, dinner, dabke entertainment, and dancing.
