Our History
How NAAMA NextGen Began
NAAMA NextGen was founded in 2018 with a vision to create a dedicated space for early career Arab American healthcare professionals to connect, grow, and lead.
What began as eight chapters and monthly Zoom calls with founding chapter presidents has grown into a nationwide organization with 50+ chapters at universities across the country.
Born from the recognition that aspiring Arab American healthcare professionals needed their own platform within the broader NAAMA organization, NextGen has become a thriving community that bridges cultural identity with medical excellence.
Organizational Model
How We’re Structured
NAAMA NextGen is a fully volunteer-led organization run by students, for students.
01 · National Board
The NAAMA NextGen National Board is composed of undergraduate and graduate students from across the country. The board oversees the organization’s strategic direction, manages national programming, charters new chapters, and handles day-to-day operations.
02 · Board of Directors
The NAAMA NextGen Board of Directors is composed of former National Board members and provides governance oversight, guidance, and long-term accountability for the organization.
03 · Chapters
NAAMA NextGen chapters are autonomous student organizations at universities nationwide. Chapters are chartered by the National Board and receive direct support including funding, resources, and access to the national network.
04 · Members
Members are undergraduate students, students in gap years between graduation and graduate school, and graduate students — registered on naamanextgen.com. Members form the foundation of every chapter and the organization as a whole.
Relationship to NAAMA
